There is a recall for ANKO Baby Activity Chair, that are pictured above.

Why have these activity chairs been recalled?

The ANKO Baby Activity Chair has been recalled because this product doesn’t comply with the mandatory standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age in New Zealand.

Specifically, the material stitching around the elephant’s ear that secures the small plastic mirror, may fail and release the mirror.

What is the risk to children?

If this plastic mirror is swallowed, there is a risk of choking or suffocation in young children, leading to severe injury or death.

Which models are recalled?

What should consumers do?

Immediately stop allowing their children to use these recalled activity chairs.

Is there a refund from ANKO?
There is a refund for these recalled products and to access this refund, bring the activity chair to Kmart.

My thoughts

While it is great to hear AKNO and Kmart are issuing full refunds for the return of these products, again, such a simple thing to do would be to have more rigorous testing for all loose parts on these items. Babies and toddlers will naturally want to pull and tug on loose items and they should not come apart with such little strength.
