 CUPKIN double-walled stainless steel cups

There is a recall for CUPKIN double-walled stainless steel cups, that are pictured above.

September 18, 2003 - This recall has been updated to include Canada as well. The cups were manufactured in China, and were sold in Canada from January 2018 to March 2023. Only a dozen were sold in the country, and there have been no reported incidents or injuries in the country related to these products, according to the notice.

Why have these cups been recalled?

The CUPKIN double-walled stainless steel cups, manufactured in China and sold online, contain levels of lead that exceed federal lead content limits in the U.S.

Which models are recalled?

These cups come in two sizes and both sizes of these cups have been recalled (8 oz. and 12 oz models) and include all 12 different color options.

What should consumers do?

Is there a refund from CUPKIN (Soojimus)?
There is a refund for these recalled products.

Important to note:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that even low levels of lead in blood can affect a child's learning capacity, ability to pay attention and academic achievement.

Effects of lead exposure can be permanent.

Currently no injuries have been reported, but there are often no apparent symptoms when a child is exposed to lead, according to the CDC.

The health agency recommends blood tests as the best way to determine if a child has been exposed.

If your child may have been exposed to lead, the CDC recommends talking to your health care provider about getting a blood test.

My thoughts

While it is great to hear Soojimus and Amazon are contacting known purchasers directly, I wish that products like this would be tested before being allowed to be sold.
