CPSC Warns Against the Use of 5in1 Rocker Bassinets Due to Multiple Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a stern warning to consumers, urging them to immediately cease the use of 5in1 Rocker Bassinets. 

Why has this recall been issued?

The reason for this warning stems from the potential suffocation, strangulation, and fall hazards these products pose to infants.

These bassinets have been found to be non-compliant with the CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Rule. Notably, they do not adhere to the safety requirements set for bassinets. Moreover, they lack the necessary markings, labeling, and instructions. 

Another concerning factor is the absence of a tracking label on the bassinets and their packaging. This label should contain vital information, such as the date of manufacture, especially since it's a requirement for children’s products, including those that are durable for infants or toddlers.

What is the company doing?

The company responsible for importing these bassinets, Rev Grace Import Inc., located in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, has not been cooperative with the CPSC regarding the recall of this product. 

Furthermore, they have not provided any remedy to the consumers who purchased these bassinets.

Where were these bassinets sold?

For those wondering where these bassinets were available for purchase, they were sold online, notably on Walmart.com and other websites. 

The bassinets were available in green and gray color schemes. They were prominently advertised and listed as a 5in1 Rocker Bassinet on the product packaging. 

Additionally, markings such as “Ya.Ya.Ya, 5IN1UPC Code 09331849600139, 01 Rock Sleeper, 02 Dream Centre, 03 Cozy Seat, 04 Travel Bassinet, 05 Rock & Play, Made in China, and Age 1-36 months” were also present on the packaging.

What should consumers do?

The CPSC is strongly urging consumers to not only stop using these bassinets but also to disassemble and dispose of them. 

They have also encouraged firms to halt the sale of non-compliant infant sleep products, irrespective of their date of manufacture.

Any incidents involving product injuries or defects should be promptly reported to the CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.

Since this item appears to have been sold in multiple places, it is going to be very difficult to track the purchasers down unlike if they were only sold at say Costco or even Amazon where they can be contacted directly.

My thoughts

I am very disappointed to see that as of the date of the recall that the company, Rev Grace Import Inc., is not cooperating by offering refunds or replacements for consumers. Parents trust that when they by products for their baby that they are safe and baby products are expensive. I truly hope that they decide to step up and offer refunds to everyone that has purchased these.
