Reason for Recall

Health Canada's sampling and evaluation program determined that the magnets in these building blocks do not meet the magnetic force requirements of the Toys Regulations, posing an ingestion hazard.

Small, powerful magnets can be easily swallowed, especially by children, leading to serious and potentially life-threatening risks.

If more than one powerful magnet is swallowed in a short period, they can attract each other inside the intestines, causing blockages or tearing of the intestinal walls.

My thoughts

Recalls like this amaze me because they have been for sale since 2018 up to and including this month (September 2023). It is almost like someone reported this vs the agency actually inspecting the products when they first arrived to see if they could be a safety risk?
